Effects of PEG-Induced Drought Stress and Different Boron Levels on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth Characteristics in Chickpea (C. arietinum L.) and Lentil (L. culinaris Medik.)

In the present study, drought tolerance potential of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) and lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) seeds under different boron (B) levels were assessed. One (Azkan) one cultivar (Sahan) selected for genetic material. To provide condition, level polyethylene glycol solution (PEG 6000) was applied to seeds. Germination experiments performed PEG-induced stress create water potentials 0 (control), -2, -4 MPa. Then, as H3BO3 at 5, 10 mM. The effects these abiotic stresses determined with measurement parameters germination rate root traits. Drought adversely affected seedling growth characteristics in lentil. Especially, seed is extremely reduced by increased stress. An increase PEG from MPa drastically decreased shoot width, length whereas they did not generate a significant difference traits except width Additionally, results showed that increasing B treatments both low concentration (5 mM) length; however, remarkable decrease observed highest (10 mM). overall findings show greatly inhibited concentrations > mM production.
